History : |
In 1947 Lahore now in Pakistan was Punjab's former capital, then a
new capital for the state of Punjab is declared and is Chandigarh. It is
located on the edge of the Shivalik Hills and the outermost edge of the
Himalaya. Chandigarh name is derived from Goddess Chandi Devi, temple of
thsi godess is 15 kms away from this town.
In the early 1950 this is a totally new town designed and built by
the French architect 'Le Corbusier'. In 1966 Chandigarh was accorded as
an Union Territory and the joint capital of the states Punjab and
Haryana. Chandigarh have the cleanest and healthiest cities in the
country. |
